Day 2
HIGH ATLAS & TAROUDANT
Departure towards Taroudant via a magnificent mountain road which allows you to discover the varied and grandiose panoramas of the Toubkal national park, with its earthen villages clinging to the mountain. A few kasbahs too, because this road was the traditional crossing point for caravans towards the Souss.
Picnic along the way. After the Tizi N’Test pass, we will descend towards the Souss plain. Arriving in Taroudant, check into your riad inside the ramparts. Dinner and night.
Day 3
LA PALMERAIE DE TIOUTE
Meet with your accompanying driver at 9 a.m. and head to the Tiout palm grove, located about thirty kilometers from Taroudant.
At the entrance to the village of Tioute, the Taïtmatine d’argan Cooperative brings together around forty women who carry out the entire manufacturing process, from harvesting the almonds to pressing them. You can also see there, if it's the season, the crushing and sorting of almonds, roasting, oil extraction and bottling.
Superb walk in this palm grove of a thousand hectares planted with 20,000 palm trees, a marvel of freshness and light. It is nicknamed the “garden of delights”. A real maze of colors at the foot of the kasbah. Along the irrigation canals (seguias), a beautiful fruit garden flourishes where orange trees, date palms, pomegranate trees and carob trees grow. Lunch in the oasis.
Return to Taroudant. Night at your riad.
Day 4
THE AMMELNE VALLEY & TAFRAOUT
By taking the Tafraout road, two hours of mountain road covered with argan trees separate you from one of the most imposing and best preserved collective granaries in Morocco, the agadir of Tasguent. He belongs to the Idouska Ousfella Berber tribe. Buildings this large and this old are rare in southern Morocco.
Built at the top of the mountain, the Agadir allowed Berber families to store foodstuffs as well as any valuable object during tribal wars.
Built on 6 floors, L'agadir de Tasguent is almost 350 years old and has 3 courtyards accessible by 2 covered passages. It was built around 1640, destroyed in 1820, rebuilt and enlarged around 1834 and re-expanded around 1880. Brahim the guide, lives in Agadir with his wife and 3 children.
Lunch on the way. In Tafraout, accommodation in a hostel at the foot of Jebel Lekest.
Day 5
THE PALM GROVE OF AIT MANSOUR
Here is a totally unexpected palm grove, embedded in the narrow canyon carved out by Oued Sidi Mansour. Chaos of rocks with improbable shapes, scree, steep summits, vertical walls several tens of meters high make up a strange, grandiose and glowing landscape. Its exuberant vegetation is a true miracle born from water.
Beautiful walk where several picturesque villages follow one another. The first village is Aït Mansour. From there, a long narrow oasis begins where water flows serenely and abundantly. Bordered by massifs, whose colors vary from ocher to pink.
The generosity of water means that this oasis is always green, the driest or most remote places being irrigated by a subtle network of irrigation canals.
2 to 3 hour walk in this magnificent mountain oasis. Picnic or lunch at Abdou’s.
Return to Tafraout. Dinner and overnight at your hostel.
Day 6
TAFRAOUTE & TATA
Road to Tata and its small Saharan adobe town colored with oleanders. A superb road winds through a desert landscape decorated with a few small oases and fortified villages up to Tagmout, notably Ait Kine and its superb fortified granary with its palm tree trunk ladders which provide access to the different cells. It contains 75 rooms spread over 3 floors, 2 watchtowers and a portal. The Agadir which belongs to Tribu Ida Ounidif is still functional.
Arrival in Tata, installation in an old Saharan residence overlooking the Palmeraie. Dinner and night.
Day 7
Day in tata's oasis
Nestled in the heart of an immense oasis of date palms, fed by the rivers of the Anti-Atlas, Tata is renowned for its numerous ksours and traditional Berber adobe houses. Its extremely rich archaeological heritage testifies to a Berber civilization which radiated over Morocco and Black Africa for centuries.
Tata is also the birthplace of the first homo sapiens human colonies that settled in North Africa in the Stone Age. THESE PALEOLITHIC VESTigeS ARE AN INVALUABLE HERITAGE for the Region: Stone tools, Wooden tools, Bone instruments, Rock engravings and Skillful caves are the sign of Commasse.
Day 8
TISSINT & LES CASCADES D’ATTIQ
Road to Tissint located 69km from Tata. Walk to the Attiq waterfalls, a magical place forming a salt water reservoir where you can take a refreshing bath, as you can discover pleasant nature and a beautiful landscape.
We will spend the night surrounded by nature at the Akka Nait Siddi camp in Tissint in a comfortable tent, in the breathtaking landscape of the Oued El Moussi canyon. In the middle of nowhere, there are still places where the myth of the desert with starry skies, unique sunsets and sunrises enchant you.
Day 9
FOUMZ GUID – AIT BENHADDOU
Until Foum Zguid, the road crosses the desert landscapes of Jebel Bani, dotted with raddiana acacias. Then going back towards Taznakhte, you will follow mountains and valleys punctuated by small villages and oases. Lunch en route.
The village of Taznakhte is renowned for making the most beautiful carpets in Morocco. The view of all these carpets drying in the sun, spread all along the main road, is superb. Lunch in Ait Benhaddou and free visit of the ksar before joining the fortified village of Tamdaght. Dinner and night.
Day 10
TELOUET
For our last day, we will walk to Annemiter, a real fortress village from which Jacques Majorelle, painter of the early 19th century, was often inspired, where you will find your vehicle to reach Marrakech and its colorful souks, after a stop in Telouet, to visit a kasbah dating from the 19th century belonging to the last great feudal lord of the Atlas.
